This product encourages students to write better, stronger, richer complex sentences using a visual prompt. The 1st and 2nd slide can be projected onto a board or printed out as task cards.

 

What’s included:

This PDF contains:

A slide that helps students to remember to include details in their sentences and try to paint a picture with words, including verbs, adjectives, nouns. There is also a large image to help students when writing their complex sentences.

A sheet where the student writes two simple sentences. They choose one to be better. Richer and stronger.

They then have a closer look at the image and break it down into

Who – using a maximum of 4 adjectives to describe what they can see.

What– what did they do? Adverb- describing how they did it.

When it is happening

Where it happened

Why it happened

How it happened or how the main character feels.

This can be printed onto A3 paper.

The following 2 slides is the same as the above slide but divided into 2, so that if these are printed out they can be pasted into student workbooks side by side. Or print out again on A3 and have students work with a partner on the sheets.
