Food Technology Emergency Lesson – Food Services and Catering

Description

Each worksheet has been formatted to allow for students to write their name and the date the lesson was given. Based on the Food Technology NSW Years 7–10 Syllabus Unit: Food services and catering. Sample solutions and Life Skills versions are also included in this resource. The activities use words and terms from the Food Technology Years 7–10 Syllabus to help students familiarise themselves with the content.

How can I use this resource?

Whilst the activities were specifically designed to cater to the needs of a teacher looking to quickly put together a meaningful and relevant set of activities for a casual teacher, they are also great for an introduction activity, to give to students finishing early or to provide as an easy homework activity.

What is included?

1. Food service and catering – Find-A-Word (Version 1)

Find-A-Word activity with 23 words related to Food equity.

2. Food service and catering – Find-A-Word (Version 2)

Find-A-Word activity with 23 words related to Food Equity with an alternative layout to Version 1. It contains the same words for students to search however, the search table is an alternative to the first. Teachers may chose to use “Find-A-Word 1” and “Find-A-Word 2” in the same lesson but providing each second student with the alternative so as to prevent copying etc.

3. Food service and catering – Crossword (Version 1)

Cross word puzzle which uses the words previously found in the find-a-word activity.

4. Food service and catering – Crossword (Version 2)

Cross word puzzle which uses the words previously found in the find-a-word activity with an alternative layout to prevent students from copying each other if desired.

5. Food service and catering – Word scramble activity

Food equity activity where students will unscramble words related to Food Equity.

Life skills activities

1. Food service and catering – Find-A-Word Life Skills (Version 1)

Find-A-Word activity with 15 words on a smaller area. All words either horizontal or vertical

2. Food service and catering – Find-A-Word Life Skills (Version 2)

Find-A-Word activity with 15 words on a smaller area. All words either horizontal or vertical

3. Food service and catering – Crossword Life Skills

Cross word puzzle which uses the words previously found in the find-a-word activity. There is a reduced number of questions in this Life Skills version and a word list is also included. In addition, each hint provides the first letter. Teachers may decide to hand write the first letter in the puzzle as additional help depending on their knowledge of their students abilities.

4. Food service and catering – Word scramble activity Life Skills

Food equity activity where students will unscramble words related to Food Equity. This simplified version includes a section for students to trace the words before unscrambling the letters into the correct order.

The worksheets are all professionally presented and include space for the students to write their name and the date the activity was completed.
