    Each worksheet has been formatted to allow for students to write their name and the date the lesson was given. Based on the Food Technology NSW Years 7–10 Syllabus Unit: Food selection and Health. Sample solutions and Life Skills versions are also included in this resource. The activities use words and terms from the Food Technology Years 7–10 Syllabus to help students familiarise themselves with the content.

    How can I use this resource?

    Whilst the activities were specifically designed to cater to the needs of a teacher looking to quickly put together a meaningful and relevant set of activities for a casual teacher, they are also great for an introduction activity, to give to students finishing early or to provide as an easy homework activity.

    What is included?

    1. Food Selection and Health (Find-A-Word Version 1)

    This activity is a traditional find-a-word containing 15 words taken from the Food Technology Food Selection and Health unit.

    2. Food Selection and Health (Find-A-Word Version 2)

    This activity is a traditional find-a-word containing 15 words taken from the Food Technology Food Selection and Health unit. It contains the same words for students to search however, the search table is an alternative to the first. Teachers may chose to use “Find-A-Word 1” and “Find-A-Word 2” in the same lesson but providing each second student with the alternative so as to prevent copying etc.

    3. Food Selection and Health (Definition Terms)

    Students will need to write the definitions for each term in the space provided. Students could be instructed to conduct their own research by using the internet or the teacher may prefer to provide the definition for students to re write.

    4. Food Selection and Health Crossword Puzzle

    This activity is a traditional crossword puzzle containing 15 words taken from the Food Technology Food Selection and Health unit.

    Life skills activities

    1. Food Selection and Health Life Skills (Find-A-Word)

    This is a Life Skills version of the activity above. It containing the same 15 words taken from the Food Technology Food Selection and Health unit, however, the guide is smaller and all the words are either up and down or across the grid making the location of terms somewhat easier.

    2. Food Selection and Health Life Skills (Definition Terms)

    Students will need to write the definitions for each term in the space provided. Each tern has its meaning written next to it allowing students to copy the correct solution in.

    3. Food Selection and Health Life skills Crossword Puzzle

    This activity is a traditional crossword puzzle containing 15 words taken from the Food Technology Food Selection and Health unit. This version includes a word list and provides a hint as to the first letter the answer.
