Getting Started is Simple:
Launch the MS Excel file. Navigate to the ‘Summary’ tab and input the essential details:
a. Recipe name
b. Student names
c. Date of the practical lesson
d. Enter student results into the Summary Sheet and watch the magic begin.
These inputs auto-populate the ‘Student Feedback Tab’. As you enter scores, built-in formulas compute totals and percentages, directing them to the student feedback section. This facilitates swift feedback printouts or digital sharing. It’s easily convertible to a PDF, allowing for individual page saves onto your school’s Learning Management System (LMS). Notably, the student feedback sheet incorporates a detailed marking rubric, offering students clarity on their achievements and insightful pointers for week-on-week enhancement.
This Summary sheet has a built-in formula to display traffic light reporting, which is a great visual to track student achievement. It simplifies the communication of complex information, making it easier to understand where improvements are needed and where they are succeeding.
BONUS resource for teachers: a poster outlining the marking criteria for each practical lesson, serving as a helpful visual reference. Along with that, I’ve included a quiz to assess student knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety, this could be administered as a pre and post test if required.
